Fun with Gerhard Lang
I recently shot a series of pictures of photo artist Gerhard Lang for Hessische Kulturstiftung, who invited him to live and work in New York City for a year. Besides other interesting projects Lang takes walks through the streets of Lower Manhattan holding a large mirror in front of his face, peeping only through a small hole. The effect is astonishing and turned some heads even by New Yorkers !! I hope we will see the results of his NYC projects soon: http://www.gerhardlang.com

From Juarez to Nogales
I am still traveling on the US Mexican border for my project LA FRONTERA, always watched by automatic cameras. They must have a feature length documentary film of me by now. I am in Nogales, Sonora, I came from Ciudad Juarez. The different daily impressions vary from poor neighborhoods in Juarez to posh art museums to art show openings (the great photographer Julian Cardona) to tv studio (with host Monica Ortiz) to depressing border fences. And cold it is here :-( and wet. But hey, no complains, things are going very well. It is a blessing to be able to work on such a project. This is a once in a life time kind of experience, nothing less.

Hello Ciudad Juarez
I really never have a dull moment working on my project along the Mexican border. One moment it is great fun with artists like Ana Maria Cruz and David Flores (top photo) in Ciudad Juarez and then I find myself in an insane asylum in the desert with Juarez photographer Julian Cardona ...

Hello El Paso
Long long too long have I not posted here. I am again working on my "LA FRONTERA: Artists along the US Mexican Border" project, this time in El Paso and Ciudad Juarez. I take fake polaroids with my iPhone whenever I can but I often forget because I am still shooting primarily with my D3 (oh boy did I wish I had the D4). The work is going really well and I hope it just never ends. Really. These projects are like a good book, I don't want it to end, ever !!
PS: I am slowly starting to fill the pages of the projects website: http://borderartists.com
