Bread and Butter Photography

Making a living with editorial work isn't easy these days. So I was very happy to take on a freelance job for Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC. At first I did not think that this could be any fun, since I normally shoot stories and portraits of people. This job is different. My 'victims', 8 foot wooden towers showcasing expensive fragrances, don't move or talk. But they live only for a week, then another brand takes their spot. And I get to be first in the store to photograph them, no costumers ... I love an empty store ! So yes, this is fun, has nothing to do with my 'normal' work, but is photography and pays the rent. Who would have thought ...
